Winemaker Profile

I completed my studies at Elsenburg in 2023 and have since gained harvest experience in both South Africa and Portugal. My focus is on producing small quantities of high-quality wines made for everyday enjoyment.

Brand Story

Olde Koa Wines began as a shared dream between two friends. One, a young winemaker fresh out of Elsenburg, brought big ideas and stained hands. The other, a science teacher, brought a curious mind and a creative heart.

In October 2023, they took a leap of faith into the world of wine, driven by courage, laughter, and the belief that sometimes you just have to start, even without having all the answers.

The name Koa carries their story within it. It is the name of the Acacia tree found across the Bushveld, a symbol of strength, endurance, and the natural beauty that feels like home. In Hawaiian, Koa also means “brave” and “strong,” perfectly reflecting their spirit as women building something new in an old world. The word Olde adds a touch of timelessness, a nod to tradition and the craft that came before them.

Their debut wine, a Cabernet Franc from the vineyards of Fort Simon on the Bottelary Road in Stellenbosch, is an honest reflection of who they are: elegant, approachable, and full of character.

The label, designed by hand, tells its own playful story. The leaves symbolize the vineyards that give life to the wine, while the panda, endearing and unexpected, adds warmth, curiosity, and a smile.

Olde Koa is more than just wine. It is a story of bravery and friendship, of hard work and joy, and of finding beauty in the journey. Whether shared on a quiet winter evening or at a lively summer picnic, it is a reminder to pause, pour, and celebrate the moments that matter.
