Most of us drive past vineyards without a second thought.
They blur into the background — neat rows of green, a bend in the road, something you notice only when the light hits just right. Yet every vineyard you pass holds a quiet story. Not just of wine, but of decisions: what was planted, when, where, and why.
That curiosity is what inspired our Vineyard Spotter Challenge.
What is the Vineyard Spotter Challenge?
Vineyard Spotter is a simple idea.
When you’re out walking, running, cycling, or driving and you pass a vineyard, we invite you to pause. Look a little closer. If a particular section of vines catches your eye — maybe the rows change direction, the soil looks different, or the block feels distinct — take a photo.
That photo becomes the starting point of a story.
You don’t need wine knowledge. You don’t need to know the farm name. Curiosity is enough.
What do we mean by “a section of vines”?
In the wine world, vineyards are often divided into smaller sections, each planted and managed slightly differently. These sections might differ in grape variety, soil type, planting year, or how much sun they receive.
You don’t need to identify any of that.
If it looks like one clear patch of vines, that’s enough for us to start asking questions.
What happens after you send it to us?
This is where we do the work.
When we receive a Vineyard Spotter entry, we tap into our network of growers and industry friends to uncover as much as we can about that piece of land. Depending on what’s possible, we may learn:
What grape variety is growing there
When it was planted
What kind of soil it’s rooted in
And, if the farm is willing to share, which wine those grapes eventually become
Some stories are detailed. Some are partial. All of them are grounded in place.
We’ll share selected discoveries on our social channels and credit the spotter who found them.
How to take part

The prize
At the end of the challenge, one Vineyard Spotter will receive:
A curated case of 6 bottles of wine, selected by Tiny Wine People — each chosen for its sense of place and story.
Winner announcement details will be shared on our social channels.
Why we’re doing this
At Tiny Wine People, we believe wine is more interesting when you know where it comes from — not just the name on the label, but the land beneath the vines.
This challenge is our way of slowing things down, of noticing what’s already around us, and of turning overlooked places into shared stories.
You’re already driving past vineyards.
Now one of them could surprise you.
Game on.
